How mindfulness and meditation can help you to excel in all areas of your life

” The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn the past, worry about the future or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly” – Buddha

There has been a lot of buzz around “mindfulness” and meditation BUT I have noticed a lot of people are really confused about what that actually means… I often hear people say “bring more mindfulness to your actions”,  “Be more mindful with your eating habits”, “Be mindful about your feelings” and so on…  The hard part is actually knowing where to start, the rest just becomes rituals and habits.

During my own journey with mindfulness and mediation I have noticed tremendous benefits in both my business (in particularly nutrition and strength coaching) and personal life.  One of the big areas I focus on with my nutrition practice is bringing awareness to our food choices and how that can be the small change that can cultivate healthy nutritional habits.

In this video I interview Singer/ Songwriter and meditation expert Janey Brown on her journey with meditation (she has been meditating since she was 13 years old).

Some of the questions we cover in this video:

  • How did Janey get into meditation at such a young age?
  • How has meditation affected her life?
  • Are mindfulness and meditation the same thing?
  • What does it actually mean to be “mindful”?
  • What does it take to start meditating and being more mindful?
  • Do you need to have a spiritual leader in order to get started?
  • Is there a particular type of meditation you should start with?
  • Do you need to mediate for a particular time in order for it to be effective?

As always I would love your feedback… have you tried meditation? What has your experience been?
